Financial Support for students

Limited financial support in order to promote student participation will be available. For supported students all fees are waived and free accommodation will be organized. Depending on available funds accommodation might be offered as double rooms shared by two students.

To be eligible for the student program the individual must:

  • Be a student (PhD, master, or bachelor) enrolled in a university program or a postdoc within 2 years after receiving their PhD degree.
  • Be working in the field related to the topics covered by the SRF conference.
  • Submit an abstract to the conference.
  • Be able to attend the entire conference and tutorial.
  • Be willing to assist the LOC during the conference.

Student support will be allocated based on the following criteria:

  • The relevance of the student's research to the field.
  • Whether the student is the primary author of a contribution to the conference.
  • The reference letter from a supervisor.
  • The available funds.

All supported students are expected to present a poster in the students poster session. In accordance with the guidelines for publication of contributions, these posters must also be displayed during the regular poster sessions. In addition, all supported students will be assigned light duties during the conference, such as assisting the session chair, passing microphones during question periods, preparing the poster sessions and working with the conference secretariat.

Applications should be sent to with the following information:

  • General information (name, level, contribution number, date of birth, affiliation)
  • A brief letter explaining the need of support
  • A reference letter from advisor, department or institution that confirms your position, your research and your financial need
  • A copy of a document certifying your enrollment in the academic institution (e.g. semester registration) or your employment as a post-doc and the year of your PhD (e.g. a letter from the employer)

The deadline for applications is Monday March 18, 2019.
All successful applicants will be notified by Monday March  25, 2019 and are required to respond with formal confirmations by Friday March 29, 2019.
Please register as early as possible to ensure that visas can be handled in a timely manner.
